CLC is a member of the Maryland Committee for Children

Creative Learning Center, Inc. was established in October 1989 as a privately owned Maryland corporation to provide a conveniently located high-quality part-time child development program for Olney area families.

For its first eight years, CLC operated at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney. Beginning in October 1989 with 31 children in two classes, the program expanded over the years to 139 children in ten classes. For the next two years, CLC operated at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Derwood, serving 106 children in nine classes.

Beginning in July 1999, CLC entered into a five-year lease agreement with another Olney church community, New Hope Presbyterian Church, in its new church building on Bowie Mill Road. Here, CLC offers nine classes for 120 children.

Diagnostic & Developmental Screenings

A number of diagnostic and developmental screenings are available to CLC students. These screenings can and do pinpoint difficulties which otherwise may go undetected and may detract from a child's optimum development or enjoyment.

Vision and hearing screenings are conducted each year for all CLC students who have passed their 3rd birthday. The fee for these screenings is included in tuition.

Also available, are a speech screening and a developmental screening. These are conducted by appointment and are scheduled by the director, after discussion with parents.

CLC wishes to thank local businesses which support its Silent Auction and other special events.

We ask all CLC parents to show their thanks by shopping at these fine establishments.
